Description

A simple run with huge rewards, the Porcupine Basin Trail winds through meadows and scree fields with ample opportunity for wildlife encounters and berry picking in the summer. Runners begin at a trailhead in the heart of Huckleberry Pass, and gently climb through a cool conifer forest and meadows to open slopes with spectacular views of Arrastra Creek below and Stonewall Mountain above. The trail ends at a junction with the Arrastra Creek Trail, where runners can either choose to turn around and head back the way they came, or take the opportunity to venture into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to the north.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Lincoln take MT-200 West approximately 1.3 miles to Beaver Creek Road. Turn right and continue onwards for about 2 miles until you reach a fork in the road; take the left fork and drive for 2.8 miles, until a second fork is reached. Take the road on the left, and drive for an additional 9.7 miles. The trail is on the righthand side of the road, and vehicles can be parked on the side road directly next to the trailhead.
