Need to Know

Check the weather quite carefully. It is often very windy and foggy on upper half. Bring waterproof layers and warm gloves. It can be quite crowded at the summit, due to train passengers. If you go earlier in the day, you can pay to grab an empty seat on the railway going down. Snow is possible between September and May.

Description

This is a beautiful run that climbs steadily and sometimes steeply from Llanberis to the top of Mt. Snowdon. To access the trail, start on the small road just to the north of the Snowdon Mountain Railway. After about 0.5 miles on the road, you begin the clearly marked trail to the left. You are already above tree line at this point!

Halfway up, you'll find a small cafe. The trail roughly follows much of the tracks for the railway. About 0.5 miles before summit, the trail crosses a junction with other trails. Standing rocks that say “Copa” (Welsh for summit) point the way to the summit.

The trail starts just above elevation 400 feet and climbs to Mt. Snowdon at elevation 3,560 feet. The views are spectacular.
