Need to Know

Pay attention to white blazes. They are not obvious at times. The trail is very narrow and can be slippery on the ledge. The Upper Loop follows Slate Valley Trail diamond markers. Parking is not ideal. The trailhead is on Thrall Rd. in Poultney.

Description

Shaded under a canopy of green, the climb starts right away. Some markers are hard to find. Footing can be tricky with roots, rocks, and downed trees. The trail is very pretty and quiet.

Flora & Fauna

Tons of chipmunks. Some chest-high raspberry bushes. Ferns and huge pine.
