Description

It is recommended to run this trail downhill from the junction with Polecat. While most people don't go above the junction with Polecat up to #313, there is no reason that you can't. Yes there is more climbing on the way up, but you get another mile on singletrack as a reward on the way back down.

At the junction with Polecat, climb up to the top of the small knob and begin your descent on the rocky trail.

After a half mile there is small climb through a granite outcropping and back onto the ridge. The trail continues along the ridgeline, but soon enough, drops off the crest becoming steeper, rutted, and rocky. Thread your way up and around the rocks and roots as the trail heads through a series of switchbacks down to the creek. Watch out at the bottom as the tread becomes extra rooty.

Just because the last mile and a half is a lower grade doesn't mean it gets easier. There are creek crossings, hidden holes and rocks, and a trail half obscured by shrubbery before you reach the bottom.
