Description

The Descending Trail should be used to climb down from the summit of Sunrise Peak after enjoying the astounding views. To get to the summit, one should take the Climbing Trail. The top part of this trail is a large wooden observation platform/series of boardwalks that allow the crowds to enjoy the vistas across the 600-meter wide tuff cone crater.

There are many benches and bleacher-like setups for viewing the sunrise/resting. The trail descends further to the south than the Climbing Trail and is slightly less steep—but still very steep. Most of the way down is comprised of wooden stairs which make the descent much easier.
