Description

Amaya Creek Road continues through beautiful forest from the end of Hihn's Mill Road (which is open to the public). See the Hihn's Mill Road description. The start of Amaya Creek Road is six miles from the Highland Way parking area. Because Amaya Creek Road ends at private property, the only way to get to Amaya Creek Road is to run at least six miles from the parking area on Hihn's Mill Road.

Amaya Creek Road is a secluded trail through the beautiful, sunlit forest of tall trees deep in the rugged Santa Cruz Mountains. The trail starts on the side of a ridge with Amaya Creek in the valley to the right (east) of the trail. Climbing slowly, the trail reaches the ridge top about 0.7 miles from the trail start. After traversing along the ridge for a short ways, the trail then drops back down on the east side of the ridge.

Amaya Pond Road is passed on the right at mile 1.3. Amaya Pond Road is a short 0.65 mile trail that runs through the forest to basically nowhere—a small patch of grass with Amaya Creek nearby, but far below.

After passing Amaya Pond Road, Amaya Creek Road continues through the beautiful, sunlit forest to end at a gate.
Private property is on the other side of the gate, so one must turn around and run back the way they came.
