Cabin 89 Trail is a Big Bear classic and super fun to climb or descend. It's a clean trail that grades nicely. This is a popular trail that sees a lot of traffic and a few races.

To descend it, look for the singletrack from the 2N08 fireroad. Look at the map, keep in mind that you'll run a sharp corner in the fireroad where the trail starts. Once you're on Cabin 89, it starts off steep then puts you on a rocky, steep and loose section - which is pretty short.

After that section, slow way down and take a sharp left. Many users will pass this corner because the trail also continues straight as well - and you'll miss Cabin 89 completely. Take a look at the map again - it's that first sharp left corner. So once you've turned the important left corner, the trail quality gets good.

There's another split in the trail halfway down - stay to the right and finish the trail at the bottom of the hill. It actually merges into 1E01. So go ahead and take 1E01 down to the parking lot. The parking lot is Aspen Glen.
