Runner Notes

This is a good trail for runners.

Description

TP 244F is a mix of old roads and a center section of singletrack. It's used by both runners and bikers and the tall pines and surrounding rocks provide better scenery than the Las Vistas de Questa Trail.

The trail can be accessed from TP 244, and this singletrack connects two logging old roads. Both runners and bikers use it. It is more beautiful than the Las Vistas de Questa Trail with tall pine trees and rocks. The singletrack is only about 0.4 of a mile in length. It is about a 3 mile run to Las Vistas de Questa Trail. Taos Plateau or TP 250C starts at the bottom of the scree field on the Las Vistas de Questa Trail which will take you all the way by to the starting point. Arroyo Diablo is where we like to have picnics. There are no tables or trash cans so we sit on rocks and pack the trash out.

If you want to run to the Las Vistas de Questa Trail from the southern end of TP 244F, there is a cairn on a two track where you'll want to go east. The two track goes both ways, and about 50 yards farther, you'll see markers that show you the singletrack going west. If you choose to go south a little farther, you'll see two pipes on the left and a singletrack through the sage and these will take you to the two track. Las Vistas de Questa Trail is marked with a variety of cairns, beer cans, an old rusty can and ribbons. There are a few cairns with green rebar for the Las Vistas de Questa Trail, and yellow rebar in the cairns to point you to the Arroyo Diablo Trail. This is a great trail. Enjoy the day.
