Features Views

Mountain bikes and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed in the park on the backcountry roads. In order to protect yourself and the surrounding ecosystem, mechanical travel is restricted to established roads. Tracks on open desert can remain for years and damages the desert ecosystem while tarnishing the experience for subsequent visitors. Off-road vehicles and all-terrain vehicles may not be used in the park.

Description

This dry and exposed dirt road begins just south of the Cottonwood Visitor Center off Cottonwood Spring Road. The road heads north and west gradually climbing for seven miles past the start of the Porcupine Wash Cross Country Route.

The second half of the road continues west on a long and fairly gradual descent past Thermal Canyon Road ending past the southern park boundary off I-10 near Cactus City.

Portions of these roads head through soft sand and rocky flood plains. Anyone traveling through this area should be prepared with emergency supplies and adequate vehicle clearance for 4X4 terrain.
