At just over a mile long, this continuation of the Split Rock Loop Trail is a good way to add a little mileage to your run and to explore some more interesting rock features along the way. The trail branches off of the southwestern side of the main Split Rock Loop Trail.

Starting from the southern end, the trail soon passes a short spur trail to Face Rock, a rock formation that some people say resembles George Washington. Past this spur, the trail turns back to the northwest and starts a gradual climb that will continue for the next half mile. The wide, sandy trail will pass through some interesting rock formations around its high point.

After you reach the top of the hill, the rest of the way is an easy-going descent until the trail rejoins with the Split Rock Loop Trail. You'll also pass a junction with the Lucky Boy Vista - Queen Mine Loop Trail heading north on your right; continue straight at this intersection to stay on the Split Rock Loop Trail.

Wildflowers and cacti can be found along the trail and bloom in the spring.
