Runner Notes

This is a good option if you're looking to tie together some sections of singletrack while visiting the park. There are some roots scattered throughout, but they're no issue if you watch your step.

Description

The east end of the trail begins off Hwy 119 beside a culvert. Head into the trees to follow a narrow root-strewn path through the trees and thick underbrush. Soon, it descends through a small ravine and continues along the opposite edge, where runners will get their first glimpse of the lake.

The rolling terrain leads into a short descent before reaching the road. A nearby bench provides a nice spot to enjoy the view of the water before continuing up the road to reach a small, wooden handrail on the left. This next section is more traveled and in better shape. Follow the winding path through the trees and vegetation to come to the edge of the embankment.

The views across the water get better as you go and there are two small viewpoints at the edge of the eroded embankment. The elevated bank above the water and open trees give the trail an almost "coastal" feeling that's quite pleasant.

The trail eventually returns to the road to cross over another culvert. The narrow singletrack works around the edge of the small ravine before continuing to parallel the lake, though it's not very visible at this point. After passing through a scraggly area of trees, the trail nears the road before turning back into the woods. The undulating singletrack works its way back for some more views of the lake before a steeper exit leads down to the beach.
