The trailhead is a bit difficult to find - the south parking lot is down a fairly hidden single lane dirt road off Eastman Road. The trail itself is well marked, relatively level, although with more grade and obstacles than the North Loop. The trail is heavily wooded and marshy in some spots, but there is wooden planking through the wettest parts.
There is a picnic bench at about the halfway point which is good for a water stop. The constant sounds of gunfire from the nearby firing range can be a bit annoying, though.
