Overview

This route travels above the Lake Texoma coastline offering views of coves and bluffs.

Need to Know

Rocky sections offer plenty of opportunities for strained ankles or falls.

Runner Notes

Trail becomes very slick after rain.

Description

The trail begins from the State Park Headquarters, on the Armadillo Hill Trail. Visitors start off by entering a thickly wooded area that travels toward the coastline. The trail bottom is laced with roots and rocks, and during the spring butterflies are abundant. A short distance after entering the trail, you'll observe an area that allows a view of the lake and its history.

The path treks across quick descents and ascents alongside the coast. Crossing State Park Road 20 puts you on Ike's Hike and Bike Trail. Once you enter Ike's segment of trail, the terrain changes intermittently from strewn with rocks, roots, to smooth ground. There are many creek crossings on this segment. Once you've traversed two miles, the trail edges along the cliff side where it enters a clearing allowing breathtaking views of the bluffs and lake.

Take you time to soak in the views, before heading back to your car by following the same route that brought you to the bluff.

Flora & Fauna

Butterflies in the spring and several wildflowers.
