The park closes at dark. Hunting, motor vehicles, woodcutting, horses, and firearms are prohibited (although it is obvious that some do ride horseback on the trail).

Description

From the parking lot, pass along the edge of the maintenance vehicle gates and the well maintained, wide trail is obvious. After a short straight section, go left or right along the easy to follow, flat loop. The trail goes through cottonwood forest along a wide bend in the Missouri River.

Since this is on the outside, or unstable side, of the bend, there are numerous signs warning visitors of possible bank collapse. This is not a good way to try to access the river as the areas of the trail close to the river are generally on crumbling cliffs. This is a nice peaceful trail that would be good for birding or for bringing your four-legged friend along. The trail provides some spectacular views of the Missouri River. The park sign indicates that there is poison ivy throughout, so be sure to stay on trail.

Flora & Fauna

A variety of birds and Canada Geese on the Missouri River. A variety of trees, particularly cottonwood, and poison ivy.
