Runner Notes

This trail is very steep with exposed rocks and roots. This is a great trail for hill training!

Description

From the Elk Meadow parking lot, take the Sleepy S Trail to the Meadow View Trail, and continue on for about three miles. If you reach the Founder's Trail, you've gone a little too far.

This trail continues west from the Mountain View Trail and offers an alternate route to the Bergen Peak Trail, though the Too Long Trail is steep, with a ton of switchbacks. Once you've summited Bergen Peak, the descent is quick, and demands full attention.

Flora & Fauna

Bergen Peak is consistently home to elk and deer, and coyote and mountain lions have occasionally been sighted.

Early spring on the trail. Since the trail is mostly on the north face, this trail can stay cold for a while.
