Runner Notes

This trail is "off the beaten path," so to speak. Many people access it by paddling cross the lake.

Description

This short trail is made difficult by its unmaintained nature. Downed trees and overgrown underbrush present continual challenges. At the end of the trail, you'll come to a memorial that commemorates the 18 sailors that were lost when their ship ran aground off the coast here in 1902.

This is a historic trail, the forest is gorgeous, and it's unusual to have to paddle across a lake to reach a trail. However, the trail has not been maintained for decades and is heavily overgrown with dense brush. But it's definitely for advanced hikers.
