Route is fairly steep along the northern end and the trail is occasionally indistinct, requiring some moderate routefinding and (functionally) off-trail travel. As you get up along the crest of the ridge the trail will become easier to follow. Expect there to be trees across the trail during the early season (April through June); these usually get cut out by mid summer. You'll likely also have significant snowpack well into June on the north facing slopes.

The trail is very occasionally marked by blazes (the typical Forrest Service dot-dash/candle blaze) and cairns, but not with enough frequency to rely on and not where you need them.
