Description
The Brigadoon Trail loops through the nature preserve, offering a variety of flora and fauna to observe, plus views of Barren River Lake. The trail starts from a small parking lot, immediately entering the woods to the west. After about 0.2 miles, the trail splits into a loop. The southern portion of the loop is generally level with minor elevation changes, while the northern portion of the loop drops down to the lake level and crosses a small stream at one point, necessitating a couple hundred feet of descent and climb back out. Overall the trail is hard-packed singletrack with some minor rock/root obstacles to navigate. The trail is well-marked throughout with blazes painted on the trees at regular intervals.
