Need to Know

There is parking in the Academy/Arby's lot, if you start from the west end of the trails in this section of the Preserve. Bring bug spray! You'll need to push through a lot of vegetation.

Runner Notes

Trail is pretty flat, but very narrow and hard to follow in some areas. Plants are overgrown, and there is deadfall on the trail.

Description

This section stretches from the start of the trail at N. Garland Ave., to where the trail splits. It needs a lot of work, and was the most difficult stretch to get through. Almost lost the trail a couple of times, it just disappeared in the vegetation. Until it gets cleaned out a bit, I would suggest using the main paved trail to the shortcut path. It is beautiful, though! If you start at the west end of the trail, the entrance is hard to see; it's right by the sign, where the bridge over the creek starts.

Flora & Fauna

I saw and heard several birds, but it's the trees that are the superstars in the Preserve.
