Need to Know

If you start at the upper trailhead, bushwhacking and wayfinding are necessary.

Description

The Six Mile Trail is best accessed from the base of the canyon and done as an out-and-back trail or as part of a loop with Dead Horse Trail and South Canyon Trail. The upper portion of the Six Mile Trail is very lightly used and hard to navigate in the overgrowth as of 2022.

The trail starts out as a widetrack used by hunters but narrows to singletrack at a USFS boundary fence. The Box Canyon is a unique feature, with a nearby spring. Multiple seeps can be seen and heard flowing into the watershed after a rain and the canyon is generally quite lush.
