Trail gets seldom use but remains tenable due to lack of vegetation overgrowth. Access the trail offshoot with a vehicle fit for forest service roads. Can also reach this summit spur via backroads from the Carberry Creek campground at Applegate Lake.

Need to Know

No designated parking sections. Use your best judgment in keeping forest service roads open. Pullouts are located further northeast direction along the forest service road located at the start.

Runner Notes

Singletrack with mix of technical, rocky terrain. Recommend trail shoes/boots.

Description

Great summit views deeper into the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and the northern edges of the Red Buttes Wilderness located to the immediate south. One can navigate to the trail start using map/gps; drive and park at the start or combine this segment with a longer hike/run from the Carberry Creek campground (located on the western side of Applegate Lake).

Exposed overhead from the start. No water points. Wildlife in the nearby areas. Remnants of an old tower and outhouse remain at the summit.

Flora & Fauna

Mix flora. Bears in the area.
