Overview

This 0.6 mile loop is a remarkably rewarding and straightforward option for a run packed with stream crossings, beautiful forest, and a lovely waterfall.

Need to Know

Please don't climb the rocks around the waterfall—they're wet, algae covered, and quite slippery!

Description

Head to the Deep Creek Campground and drive through the campground to the well-signed parking lot at the end of the road where you'll find the Deep Creek Trail. Start running up the Juney Whank Falls Trail, which you'll follow for the majority of the route.

The trail ascends the hillside, winding through thick trees before arriving at the the falls. There's a log bridge that crosses right in the middle of the two cascades, offering excellent, up-close views of the water as it passes below the bridge and down into Deep Creek. After enjoying the falls, continue along Juney Whank Falls Trail until it reaches Deep Creek Trail. Turn right to return to the trailhead. If you'd like a longer run, you can easily extend your outing on any of the trails in the area—including up the Deep Creek Trail to Tom Branch Falls and Indian Creek Falls.

While this is accessible year-round, it makes for an excellent summer venture because of the shade and water access.
