This trail is open year-round. It is an off-shoot of the
Enchanted Forest Trail and shares the same trailhead. Parking there is limited to 2-3 vehicles. There are no amenities and no water. Please do not block the gravel driveways that are on either side of the small parking area.
Need to Know
The Felton Memorial Trail was constructed as a memorial to three men (Jeffrey Felton, Karl Hansen, and Dale Siegel) who perished when a helicopter crashed on Bureau of Land Management lands near the terminus of the trail.
Description
From the trailhead, it is a 0.7 mile walk on the
Enchanted Forest Trail to its junction with the Felton Memorial Trail. The Felton Trail undulates in and out of canyons through oak woodlands, patches of pine forest, and stands of big-eaf maple for 1.5 miles, where it ends at a marble and metal commemorative plaque. Although use trails radiate from the end of the official trail, the land beyond the plaque is private property; please respect this and do not trespass.
Flora & Fauna
There are a lot of wildflowers along the trail in April and May. In October, the big leaf maples bring brilliant yellow colors to the forest.
