The Natural History Center is open every Saturday & Sunday 12pm-4pm. April through December.
The original one room general store was built in 1908. The building later served as an Episcopal Church meeting area, the Wintergreen Country Store, and Spruce Creek Art Gallery. The Rockfish Valley Foundation acquired the building in May of 2011; it now houses exhibits from the Virginia Museum of Natural History and serves as a headquarters for the foundation. This historic place still serves the community with programs and events every year.

Interpretive information at Spruce Creek Park focuses on water, land/rocks, plants, animals, and local history.

The Children's Nature Trail (the short northern loop) accesses several nature play areas; including creek access, a mud kitchen, labyrinth, balance beams, and forts. Visitors will also find a Gaga Ball Pit, Bocce Ball court, and picnic tables.

The Birding Trail (the long southern loop) follows the perimeter of a hay field to gain beautiful views of the surrounding mountains (including Three Ridges).

One interpretive feature of Spruce Creek Park is a pollinator garden.
