Need to Know

Flush toilet facilities available from May 1 through mid-October. Drinking fountains available seasonally, as well. Preserve trails also extend from the west to the Village of Port Barrington at Center Street to join the Village's pathway system.

Description

More than 3 miles of trails wind through woodlands, over two boardwalks and along the banks of the Fox River. Trails here are open to hikers, cyclists, and cross-country skiers.

Flora & Fauna

In some sections of the preserve, the hilly landscape is typical of southern Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine area. Unique to the site is a large rookery, home to great blue herons and egrets, and a fen that supports two state-listed plant species.

Fishing enthusiasts bring back up to 50" muskie, up to 30" walleye, and small and largemouth bass.
