Hug Point can only be rounded at low tide.
Overview
A great hidden spot that is only accessible at low tide. Take a short run down the beach to a great waterfall, cave, and see the sea life with the whole family!
Need to Know
Watch the tide—do not become stranded on the other side of the point or in the sea cave with the incoming tide!
Runner Notes
The beach to the north and south are great places to run.
Description
Follow the somewhat eroded trail down to the beach and turn right. After about 0.15 miles, a stream crosses the beach; turn upstream a short distance to a small waterfall. You can scramble up the falls to a few trails along the stream. Not far beyond the falls (to the north) is a sea cave.
At low tide, it is possible to scramble across the rocks at the end of the point to access the beach on the other side. Grooves in the rocks show where stagecoaches used to hurry around the point at low tide.
It is possible to continue about a mile northward to Arcadia Beach to
Lion Rock, if desired.
