From the parking lot, the trail climbs up hill through open terrain mixed with trees that can hold a lot of alpine wildflowers in the right season.

A half mile in, you enter thick forest with firs and then cedar as you drop down to the lake. This quiet alpine lake is full of spots to stop and enjoy the scenery.

Leaving the lake you barrel uphill. Soon, you gain enough altitude to start seeing Pacific Silver Fir until you finally connect with the Grouse Point Trail #517.
