Description

From the junction right past the river ford, head northwest. The trail immediately starts to gain elevation with smaller switchbacks. As you make your way up, you get a good view of the West Walker River valley. After about half a mile, the trail levels. Shortly thereafter, Chain of Lakes Trail #49 is to your left. Continue further and Fremont Lake quickly comes into view. Once you reach the lake, the trail turns left and circles around the south end of the lake with a few great camp sites along the way.
