“A burly climb leads to the highest point in DuPont State Forest and some amazing views.”
— Vinnie Connors
DuPont State Recreational Forest is a very popular multi-use, bi-directional trail system, so be on the lookout for horses and cyclists. It is normally open in any weather although it can close during extended periods of freeze/thaw in the winter.
Stone Mountain Trail starts off of Rocky Ridge Trail
then intersects with Switchback before starting the 600+ foot grueling climb to the top. The average grade of the climb is about 15% and it is upward of 30% at the top. The top offers 360-degree views of the forest in the winter and 180-degree views the rest of the year.
