Various sections may close seasonally for nesting raptors and herons.

Description

From the trailhead, head north through the fields of the old farm. The northern section of the loop provides views of the Rocky Mountains to the west before turning around south and heading to a trail junction near the lake. Once at the trail's end near the lake, watch for waterfowl, herons, eagles, hawks, and owls. During the summer months, box turtles can also be found in and near the lake lazing in the sun.

To return to the parking area, head west along the lake.

Flora & Fauna

Waterfowl, herons, eagles, hawks, and owls have been spotted feeding and nesting at the lake and near the trail. Foxes and coyotes are known to be in this area and are generally active during dawn and dusk.
