The Russ Knudsen Trail is yet another hill trail in the Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve. It's not as long and steep as the nearby Westwood Shore Trail
, but your legs won't know the difference if you combine the two. If used as an out and back, the trail is best accessed via the Gazzam Main Trail
, but I personally like to combine this trail along with the Gazzam Main Trail
and Veterane Trail
to make a nice 5 mile loop. No matter which way you go, you're going to get some elevation.
There are a couple of junctions on the trail that can be a bit confusing. One junction is the Westwood Shore Trail to Russ Knudsen Trail Connector
, which will bring you to the Westwood Shore Trail
. Another junction will cut a bit of distance but still bring you back to the Gazzam Main Trail
. If you take a wrong turn, you'll still get to where you were going, so no worries.
