Description

The Russ Knudsen Trail is yet another hill trail in the Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve. It's not as long and steep as the nearby Westwood Shore Trail, but your legs won't know the difference if you combine the two. If used as an out and back, the trail is best accessed via the Gazzam Main Trail, but I personally like to combine this trail along with the Gazzam Main Trail and Veterane Trail to make a nice 5 mile loop. No matter which way you go, you're going to get some elevation.

There are a couple of junctions on the trail that can be a bit confusing. One junction is the Westwood Shore Trail to Russ Knudsen Trail Connector, which will bring you to the Westwood Shore Trail. Another junction will cut a bit of distance but still bring you back to the Gazzam Main Trail. If you take a wrong turn, you'll still get to where you were going, so no worries.
