Dogs No Dogs
I don't know about official closures, but I would not run this in the summer.
Runner Notes
Some loose gravel in places.
Description
This trail is about 2.5 miles and easy. There are 2 cutoffs–the first is at Post 6 (Mile .6), where you can cut over to the return trail if you want a shorter run, There is another cutoff further up at about mile 1. The trail is singletrack, has a few short, steep climbs/steps. Other than those it is a nice trail.
The scenery is desert surroundings. Mostly, if not all flora, is Creosote bush. The viewpoint is at the top, but was closed to protect the Bighorn Sheep habitat. It took me just over an hour of moving time to get there.
I saw no birds or wildlife and I looked for wildlife on the hills, a few lizards scooted across the path now and then. It was in the mid 80's when I returned to the parking area--so plan accordingly. There is no water or toilets on the trail, but the visitors center has both, along with info on the trail itself.
Flora & Fauna
Lots of Creosote bushes. Later in the spring, after some rains, there maybe wildflowers.
