Starting from the parking lot, follow the paved trail along the lake. There will be a series of rolling hills and a steep climb at around 2km as you pass by the seemingly abandoned rowing complex.
Continue on for another kilometer, until you come to a junction with the Cactus Run Trail (singletrack) to the left. Turn onto the Cactus Run Trail, and immediately you'll begin climb. Follow this winding and sometimes exposed trail for 2 kilometers until you reach a chalet building; there follow the trail downhill to the left.
In about 100 meters, there is a sharp turn to the right. Enjoy the views to the left as your skirt the cliff edge. You'll soon arrive at an exposed viewpoint. Continue down the relatively smooth and even terrain.
