Description

This new extension of Ballardini Ranch Park is a great place for walkers, runners, and mountain bikers. From the Upper Loop of the Figure Eight Loop, this trail heads west into the Carson Range. You'll have to cross a small creek that can be very muddy in the winter before heading up a series of long switchbacks to the top and around the back of a ridge.

The trail continues south through wide open meadows filled with sage and rabbit brush, with panoramic views of the valley. Continue south until the trail ends at a rutted fire service road—travel a short distance down this dirt road to connect to Timberline Drive. Timberline is a rocky dirt road that connects to Upper Thomas Creek Trail and miles more of trails.
