The trailhead begins at a dirt lot on the west side of the area. The trail passes across Swan Creek, which runs year round and is prone to flash flooding. Alternatively, there is a pull-off at the end of the trail at Highway UU if you want to attempt the trail from the other side. This is a dirt path through thick forest that follows generally along the ridgeline. This area is popular for mountain bikers and equestrians, so be alert.
