Closed dusk to dawn. No motorized vehicles. Merkle section of trail closed between October 1 and January 31.

Description

This is a bi-directional, shared use trail that heads through open forest and farmland that is a mix of pavement and gravel doubletrack with some fall line downs and ups. It connects Jug Bay Natural Area to Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary, which is managed by MD DNR.

The Jug Bay part of the trail is open year-round but the Merkle side is closed to traffic between Oct. 1 and Jan. 31. While the trail isn't very busy, it is shared-use and there will occasionally be equestrians and mountain bikers, so be aware.
