Trail shared by Matías Fontenla

This trail connects Powerline Trail (5543) to 337, a bit downhill from Otero Canyon.

Description

This trail starts off of Powerline Trail (5543) a bit sandy and rocky, but nice. After a short section in the trees, you get great views to the south, southwest and north, as the trail follows the rim down the mountain.

Towards the end as you approach 337, the trail becomes steep with extreme erosion, with rocks of all sizes. I believe this section is to be rerouted by a grant and partnering between AMBA and the Sandia Ranger District. As of now, it is not fun to do. But if you need to get down the mountain back to the Otero Canyon trailhead, this will do. You'll then have to run a short section on the paved road uphill to the parking lot.
