Trail shared by Tyler Meester

Climb ~2300' over 3.5 miles to the top of Tahquitz Peak! There is a very cool fire lookout station on the top.

Runner Notes

How long can you run for before you have to resort to speed walking uphill? I did it in roughly 1:45, and I am not an expert trail runner by any means. This time does not include hanging out at the top, and is just there to give people an idea of how long it will take.

Description

South Ridge Trail is a very steep and fun jaunt through the wilderness. The trail gets progressively more challenging, and don't worry, as it gets steeper the higher up you go. The view at the top is pretty awesome though, and from Tahquitz Peak the trail continues to the PCT where you have the opportunity to turn your run into a really fun loop. I headed back down in the light of the setting sun, which was quite the experience.

Flora & Fauna

Oak and pine trees and HUGE manzanita bushes! This forest is very, very healthy looking.
