Description

The Nagarkot to Bhaktapur route begins on a small plateau near Nagarkot village. The upper reaches of the trail link a series of steep and rugged sections of trail and footpaths. Be aware of thick vegetation and steep sideslopes on the initial descent.

The route then has a short respite through a beautiful hardwood forest, contouring with a brief climb. From there you'll run along a ridge with great views of terraced field below and the Kathmandu Valley to the south.

The route descending steadily from here, alternating between rocky village walkways, dirt-packed doubletrack and rugged singletrack. Be aware of people and animals as you pass through the villages and don't be afraid to smile and say hello.

Things will then finally begin to level out. It's definitely a 'local' trail with sharp bends and hard turns.

The Nagarkot to Bhaktapur route ends at the UNESCO World Heritage Site village of Bhaktapur where you can enjoy a rooftop lunch and a tour.
