Description

The trail begins at the junction with Eagle Lake Trail and initially descends through mixed Douglas fir and subalpine forest. The trail crosses a stream at about 0.6 miles and then follows a few switchbacks as it beings to traverse up the ridgeslope above Martin Creek. Martin Lake Trail goes off to the right about 4 miles into the trail. The trail then enters an open meadow basin with scattered trees below Martin Peak.

The trail passes over a saddle below the peak; just beyond the high ground, Cooney Lake Trail #434 diverges off to the right. The trail descends through scattered trees and exposed rock and boulders, before dipping into dense subalpine forest to the junction with the Foggy Dew Trail.

The trail ends at the junction with Foggy Dew #417 Section I and Foggy Dew #417 Section II

Area snow covered November into June.

Mosquitoes are ferocious in this area until August.
