Fallen Trees - I just did this trail. To call it a trail may not be accurate it's like sections of trail followed by no trail followed by trail covered by old growth trees and shrubs. Do not attempt without a map/compass or GPS device. GPS ALMOST A NECESSITY. Not a good bypass option for getting around impassible section of Lost Coast seriously just wait for low tide! I would consider the trail dangerous if you don't have ability navigating offtrail without a map. Having said that the veiws are beautiful but the 2400' up and 2400' down is exhausting. History

Open year-round; check road conditions before visiting. The Cooksie Creek vehicle access on the northern and southern section of the trail is open to the public from April 1 - November 1 of each year. The trail can be reached from the Mattole Beach trailhead year-round.

Description

Cooksie Creek Trail is a lightly used 11-mile trail (one-way) from Punta Gorda to Spanish Ridge on the northern Lost Coast. The northern access to Cooksie Creek Trail is from Windy Point Road and is only vehicle accessible from April 1 - November 1 each year. The southern access to the trail is from Telegraph Ridge Road, including 1.8 miles on the Spanish Ridge Trail, also only vehicle accessible from April 1 - November 1 each year. The Cooksie Creek Trail is not maintained and can be difficult to follow.
