Runner Notes
Numerous roots and rocks along the trail - wear stiffer trail runners as this one is not great for minimalist shoes.
Description
This trail follows the easier side of the Old Mac trails, with a lower grade than the
South Old Mac Trail. The route will lead curious runners to the jeep road leading up to a fire tower. Make sure you check out the views from the tower...it's worth the 1/2-mile trek up the hill, especially once you've made it this far!
There are plenty of wildflowers and a nice backcountry camping site at the meeting of North and
South Old Mac Trail.
Flora & Fauna
There are plenty of rattlesnakes in the area, so be careful to avoid them. Many wildflowers including wild violets and daisies along the trail, especially during the spring.
