This is also a popular biking path so keep an eye out for other people.
Description
Parking is right by the trailhead next to the lake.
Going clockwise, you first start across what looks to be an old doubletrack across a mowed field until you reach a gate. From there, it turns to singletrack and the first half mile is a very mild ascent. It narrows in spots between trees and hillside.
After making the slow right curve, you come to a hard right and immediately the first steep ascent. Some tree roots and loose rocks make it a bit difficult but after that, you slowly climb a bit more easily until you reach a somewhat steep descent. Watch out for loose soil and tree roots that make the footing tricky in places.
At the bottom, you cross a small waterway and another steep ascent. A bit difficult for the first little bit, it soon becomes only a moderate ascent which winds its way along the ridge.
After passing a nearly abandoned picnic site on top of the hill, the path widens for a bit with a gravel surface. As you begin to descend, it once again becomes dirt with plenty of tree roots and logs across the path to prevent erosion. These are a bit like steps.
You end at a gate back onto the park road just before the parking lot.
