“This trail traverses Bernheim Forest through the Elm Lick Watershed.”

Features: Birding — River/Creek — Views
Enjoy nearly 5 miles of beautiful forested singletrack along the Elm Lick Trail. While the majority of the trail is easy and flat, you'll encounter two short, steep descents to the creek, as well as one fairly steep ascent back to the ridge.
Starting off the Ashlock Hollow Fire Road, the Elm Lick Trail follows a ridgeline (left at the fork) through dense hardwoods for about a mile before making its first descent to the valley below. Watch your footing on the way down!
Upon reaching the valley floor, the trail meanders alongside Elm Lick for a few miles before turning north and tackling a seriously steep ascent of the adjacent ridge.
Once on top of the ridge, it's more or less smooth sailing. All that's left in front of you is a moderate descent into the previous drainage and an equally moderate climb back out. When you reach the fork from before, simply turn left, and you'll be on your way back to the car.
