Runner Notes

The ups and downs make for a good little hill workout if you don't mind the stop and go of having to navigate some gates and stiles.

Description

The Pūweto Loop is the longest loop at Waitawa Regional Park's system of nested trails (it shares sections and red markers with the Blue, Green, and Yellow Loop, but just keep following the red posts). The loop heads up and down some steep hills and on the southern side passes through pastureland (you'll have a couple gates and stiles to navigate). As the trail loops back to the north, you'll enjoy views of the water with Karamuramu Island and Pakihi Island to the northeast, with Ponui and Waiheke Island in the distance. From this vantage point the blue-green waters of Kawakawa Bay are very scenic. The trails starts and ends from a small beach and picnic area at Mātaitai Bay.
