Need to Know

It is easy to miss the trail and wind up on the Ridge Top Trail. Signage is not good on this trail.

Description

Indian Point Trail is a 1.9-mile loop trail that starts on the ridge and progresses out to a beautiful bluff face overlooking the valley.

From there, it turns left and descends below the bluff offering some of the best views of the bluff face with tons of opportunities for rock scrambling and exploring. The trail continues along the forest floor before ascending a slight rise. Be careful to look out for a deceptive trail turning left that is not part of this trail.

The loop trail continues straight along a less-beaten trail and stays below the bluff. The forest floor opens up as the trail moves away from the bluff and is a perfect place for viewing wildflowers in the spring.

The trail closes the loop at the pond near the parking lot. Heading clockwise, be on the lookout for a sharp descent and old campsite at the end of the lake. This is the loop trail.

Without a person for scale, it is hard to show the true size of this formation. These rocks are 60-80 feet tall. It is perfect for rock scrambling and exploring.

The Indian Point Trail travels near the edge of the bluff in this section.

This is the turnoff to do the Indian Point Loop Trail in a clockwise fashion, opposite of the direction of the mapped route. Some yellow flagging tape marks it just beyond the lake and a short distance from the parking lot.

In the wintertime, the trail is often soft and leafy. Most of the trail is very gently graded with only a few places with more aggressive elevation change.

My hiking buddy enjoys a very cool small cave with flat floor. It only goes in about 20 feet, but it's a good place to take shelter from a storm.
