This is a location of confusion for falling off the loop trail. The more beaten trail makes a hard turn and ascends the ridge. This will make it back and offers many views from above. The loop trail stays below the bluff.
Spectacular rock formations make this an impressive hike.

Spectacular rock formations make this an impressive hike.
In the wintertime, the trail is often soft and leafy. Most of the trail is very gently graded with only a few places with more aggressive elevation change.
Without a person for scale, it is hard to show the true size of this formation. These rocks are 60-80 feet tall. It is perfect for rock scrambling and exploring.
Looking south over Karber's Ridge.
This is the turnoff to do the Indian Point Loop Trail in a clockwise fashion, opposite of the direction of the mapped route. Some yellow flagging tape marks it just beyond the lake and a short distance from the parking lot.
The Indian Point Trail travels near the edge of the bluff in this section.
