Runner Notes

This trail is great for running fast, but will also keep you honest. The Trailhead is located in the middle of the trail inside the state park. A full out and back is about 4.5 miles from the trailhead when completing both sides of the trail.

Description

The trailhead for this trail is located right in the middle of it as it crosses the main park road. On one side, you have a flat section of trail along a creek and through an open forest. On the other side, you have a roller coaster singletrack on a bluff over Lake James, with good views of the lake and the Linville Gorge when the leaves are down in the winter. Completing this one in one clean sweep requires hopping on the trail from its intersections with 126, which isn't the most desirable. Instead, enjoy each branch separately.
