Description
The Gorge Overlook Trail connects the iconic landmark of Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls. Along the 3-mile trail, runners will cross the dam at Rose Lake. The trail is made up of a mix of soil, sandstone, clay and gravel and is a mix of easy to moderate.
The Gorge Overlook Trail is one of the most popular trails in Hocking Hills State park. About half way through the trail, runners will cross the dam at Rose Lake (a.k.a Hocking Hills Reservoir). The State Park campgrounds are nearby.
One prominent feature along the way is the A-framed bridge near Old Man's Cave. Old Man's Cave itself is a recess cave with Middle Falls just below it. Water from Cedar Falls runs over about 50ft of sandstone and is fed from the nearby Queer Creek. Parking lots are accessible at either end of the trail.
