A good, even surface makes for simple running.

Description

The Stone Mountain Loop Trail follows the orange circle markings. The trail starts behind the bathrooms at the parking lot. You'll follow the creek until you head up to a clearing made by an old homestead. Take in the views then continue down the trail.

You'll make a couple of streams crossings before you get to Stone Mountain Falls. Head up the stairs and continue for a long time going uphill until you arrive at the summit. Take in the beautiful views of Appalachia from the rocky moon-like surface of the summit. The trail is marked on the rock where there are no trees. From here, continue downhill with intermittent stairs until you arrive at a road crossing. Shortly after the road, you meet up with the beginning of the loop and head back to the parking lot.
